The program has been developed to be used in all genres of motorcycles, motorcycling sports  addressing the motorcycle physics, rider inputs, human behaviour, varying range of grip and environments.

The program delivers to the two vital balances an a riders development:

  1. The balance of organic and structured training ensures there is the understanding of technology, technique, systems learnt in structure which is balanced with;

  2. The essential time required for practice, muscle memory, confidence in correct systems of control that is learnt in the organic phase of practice.

Negatives

  1. Structured - can make a rider think to much

  2. Practice - rider can learn to go fast but not understand how why

Positives

  1. Structured - rider has a full understanding of motorcycle physics, rider inputs, systems

  2. Practice - gains belief, confidence, achievement, mentally important, the reasoning of why we ride a motorcycle

The measurement

  1. Structure - vital staged learning program, using Data, professional Trainer/coach

The Six Levels

1

If you think training for your licence test was the only motorcycle instruction you will ever need, then think again. Fast, smart, and safe riders are trained, not born.

Advanced Level 1 on-track training will teach you:

  • Grip control and system of control for dry and wet conditions

  • Braking and cornering

  • Rider posture and Body English

  • Rear brake skills

  • Throttle and gearing exercises, including the use of gearbox and clutch

2

Building on the techniques demonstrated and practiced in Level 1, we will go into more detail to have you understanding and controlling your bike like never before. Riders must have completed Level 1 before proceeding.

Advanced Level 2 on-track training will teach you:

  • Grip front tyre - overlap braking and rear brake

  • Steering geometry - overlap front brake

  • Change of direction - posture

  • Turning efficiently - steering geometry

3

We are now getting to the “meat” of building you into a more intelligent rider. We build on the practical and theory elements of the previous levels and delve deeper into correct line, grip, and braking.

Advanced Level 3 on-track training will teach you:

  • Change cornering lines using Bernie's’ unique systems

  • Dealing with different kinds of corners and cambers

It’s here we say goodbye to the fast road riders and concentrate on the track day riders and racers. We aim to take you directly to the front of your group or race, so the speeds are now significantly increased and the lines become narrower to really focus the mind.

Advanced Level 4 on-track training will teach you:

  • An increased track speed over Level 3

  • Inch-perfect lines around the entire track

  • Hard acceleration including standing the bike up

  • Correct passing lines

  • Race starts

5

Levels 1 to 4 have created great momentum, you can feel the difference in your riding. Let’s get a bit of polish onto your skills, let’s do it for real; performing passing manoeuvres and vital track craft to keep you clear from the dramas.

Advanced Level 5 on-track training will teach you:

  • Sports body English

  • Lightning-fast changes of direction

  • Time and fatigue-saving body actions

  • Real-time live passing

  • Learn to follow and not to follow

  • Slipstream efficiency

6

Welcome to Level 6.

Grip School

Earn vital motorcycle handling skills at our Grip School. An essential part of every rider’s growth is the understanding and feeling of grip. This school will help you understand just how far you can lean or how hard you can brake on a motorcycle. Learn grip and recovery from slides, extra balance, and machine skills.

Our Grip Schools are held on purpose-built training surfaces. The unique surface offers a safe, low-speed (20 to 30 km/hr) technical training area to practice the art of grip without trying to learn vital grip skills at speed on bitumen roads.

Whether you are a seasoned grand prix rider or just average Joe, Bernie Hatton’s Grip School will help with what most describe as a black art in his easy-to-understand methods and skills that our best racers and riders regard as vital motorcycle handling skills. By the end of the course, you will have the skills and knowledge to become a safe motorcycle rider!
